teal (for the men i love, and the ladies who asked for it)

so today's blog is being posted for two reasons... 1: the fellas sent me a lotta flack because of my last blog post lol, and 2: it was requested since i don't have this piece currently posted anywhere else. soo... for my guys, and for those who asked, here is "teal" ;)

teal

he offered me the world in a crystal vase
when all i wanted was the heart on his sleeve
see he couldn't love -
he could need
he could want, he could feel
but love wasn't real to him
love was like teal to him
not quite blue
more like green

she was mean to him
mistook his kindness for weakness
laughed at his meekness
and dreamed at him
not of him
but at him
sent pillow-filled missiles
of what he could be and what he should be
till what he would be
would be of no use to him
see he couldn't love
he could need
he could want
he could feel
but love wasn't real to him
love was like teal to him
not quite blue
more like green

i was keen on him
diggin every seam on him
jealous of his skin cause it wasn't me on him
well -
(maybe not that bad)
but i was mad for him
and at the same time sad for him
cause see he couldn't love
only need
only want
only feel
but love wasn't real to him
love's more like teal to him
not quite blue
more like green

she was mean to him
not the first she
but the next
brother was hexed with a whole line of them
only after him
for what he gave to them
what he made for them
what he slaved for them
they abandoned him
and he wondered when someone would appreciate
that world in a crystal vase
that he offered them
yet they laughed at him
thus he learned not to love
only to need
only to want
only to feel
only to find love wasn't real to him
love was like teal to him
not quite blue
more like green

i was queen to him
reigned supreme to him
no need for lotion i was creme to him
not like others who mistreated him
i was thankful for him
and grateful for him
cause he bought me joy unbeknowing to him
he offered met he world in a crystal vase
when all i wanted was the heart on his sleve
he said he needed me
and he wanted me
he was feeling me
but i couldn't see
that he couldn't love
he could only need
only want
only feel
but love wasn't even real to him
love was like teal to him
not quite blue
more like green

had his heart broken so many time chose to hide it
and now that he wants to love again he can't find it
tried to go back in time but even he can't rewind it
so now seems we're binded
by love vs. need
love vs. want
love vs. feel
but all love is lost cause
love isn't real to him
love's more like teal to him
not quite blue
more like green
i appealed to him
even tried to steal for him
a heart that could love what he couldn't
one that would love what he wouldn't -
it was then that he told me i shouldn't

he told me he couldn't love
only need
only want
only feel
but that love stuff wasn't real to him
love was like teal to him
not quite blue
more like green

still he
offered me the world y'all
..in a crystal vase
but all i ever wanted
all i really wanted -
was the heart on his sleeve

thus i sighed a sigh for him
thus i cried a cry for him
thus i said goodbye to him
cause
what good is the world in a crystal vase
if his heart ain't in it...
